World Heart Day 2014

World Heart Day Celebrations 2014
Venue: Kasarani Sports Complex
Date: Saturday 20th September
Time: 8:00am to 4:00pm

Join us on Saturday 20th September 2014 at the Kasarani Sports Complex and take part in enjoyable activities to mark World Heart Day.

This World Heart Day, the focal message is about creating heart-healthy environments. By ensuring that people are able to make heart-healthy choices wherever they live, work and play, World Heart Day 2014 encourages us all to reduce our cardiovascular risk, and promotes a heart-healthy planet for those around us.

Every September, Kenyan-Heart joins other countries around the world in marking World Heart Day.  During this annual event, Kenyan-Heart brings together its Local partners especially the Schools to participate in special Activities to celebrate this important day.

Kenyan-Heart also uses World Heart Day as its Annual Fundraiser whereby funds are raised for its various programs and particularly the Rheumatic Heart Disease Prevention program. Rheumatic heart disease (RHD) is the most common acquired heart disease in children in many countries of the world, especially in developing countries. The global burden of disease caused by rheumatic fever currently falls disproportionately on children living in the developing world, especially where poverty is widespread. Much of the work Kenyan-Heart does is in an effort to STOP Rheumatic Heart Disease through Prevention.
